about Hogonin
Hogonin is one of the subtemple of Tenryūji Temple.
Tenryu-ji Temple, located just a three-minute walk from Arashiyama Station, is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is a sub-temple founded by the number two of the shogunate at that time and is a Zen temple.
Atmosphere
It is majestic.
You will be captivated by the massive rock shaped like ”Shishi” (like a lion) and the vibrant autumn leaves that canopy the grounds.
Highlight
The name of the garden at Tenryu-ji, “Shishiku,” is derived from the meaning of the Buddha’s teachings.
It is said that the garden was designed with the intention of allowing visitors to experience the psychology of life and the right path through a stroll, listening to the sounds of birds and the wind.
You can feel the deepening of autumn in the scattered autumn leaves on the expanse of moss. Let the tranquil the leaves at night soothe your heart.
